Frequently Asked Questions

Anax Carriers Inc

Do you handle FTL shipments regularly?

Yes. We run 53-ft highway dry vans and reefers on core lanes, especially BC to Ontario, with multi-stop options. We accept drop-trailer on request, and we manage linehaul with a focus on schedule reliability, axle-legal loading, and clear site instructions.

Do you provide LTL freight service?

Yes. We collect LTL within defined radii around our hubs and linehaul to major markets. We publish clear pallet dimensions and transit guidance for planning. Accessorials like liftgate, residential delivery, and appointment handling are available on request.

Can you provide same-day expedited service?

Yes—within a 600-kilometre radius when booked before 10:00 AM. We prioritise best-effort delivery with exceptions for weather, road closures, and force majeure. Team drivers and 5-ton or tractor-trailer options are available depending on the load.

Do you run temperature-controlled reefer loads?

Yes. We handle frozen, chilled, and heated freight with setpoints and tolerances published on our Temperature-Controlled page. We focus on product integrity, pre-trip checks, and validated loading practices from pickup to delivery.

Do you offer a dedicated fleet?

Yes. We structure dedicated solutions on a minimum six-month term. We allow customer branding on equipment and uniforms and offer on-site support where required. We publish KPIs of 99% on-time pickup, 99% on-time delivery, and a 0% claims ratio.

Do you handle cross-border Canada–USA freight?

Yes. We move freight both ways across the border and serve shippers nationwide. We work with your customs broker and ensure documents are in order before pickup to keep crossings smooth.

How do we request a quote?

Call +1 778-896-9054 or email [email protected]. Share origin, destination, ready times, commodity, pallet count, dimensions, stackability, temperature if required, and any special site needs. For cross-border, include your broker details and document status so we can schedule quickly.

What is your primary long-haul lane?

We prioritise BC to Ontario with consistent capacity and 53-ft dry vans and reefers. We also run BC to Alberta and return traffic aligned with seasonal demand, retail cycles, and produce peaks. Our network points in Delta, Calgary, Winnipeg, and Brampton let us balance transit and reliability.

How far do you collect LTL from each hub?

We collect up to 300 kilometres from Delta, BC and up to 300 kilometres from Brampton, ON. Around Calgary, AB we collect up to 100 kilometres. We prioritise Surrey, Delta, and Metro Vancouver locally. If your pickup lies just beyond these radii, we still review the request and quote case-by-case.

What pallet dimensions and stacking rules apply?

Standard pallets are 48 x 40 inches with a maximum height of 96 inches. We will stack only on request and only when the freight and packaging are stackable per shipper requirements. If stackability is uncertain, we recommend shipping single-stack and noting “no stacking” on the BOL to avoid claims.

What are typical LTL transit times?

As planning guidance, BC to Ontario is about three days and BC to Alberta is generally next day once linehaul departs. These are indicative only and not guaranteed; actual times depend on pickup cut-off, linehaul departure windows, weather, road conditions, and force majeure.

When is the same-day LTL pickup cut-off?

We accept same-day LTL pickup requests until 6:00 PM daily, seven days a week. We confirm capacity and timing at booking. For time-sensitive freight, calling our 24/7 line speeds up dispatch and dock scheduling.

How do you price multi-stop FTL?

We accept stops without a stated maximum, and we bill each additional stop. Pricing starts from $100 per stop when it is along the route and increases if the stop is off-route based on location. We confirm stop charges on the rate confirmation before dispatch.

What is your detention policy?

We include two hours free at pickup and two hours free at delivery for FTL. After the grace period, waiting time charges apply and are calculated from the end of the free time. We encourage accurate appointment windows and clear site instructions to avoid avoidable delays.

Can you leave a drop trailer at our site?

Yes, we can spot a trailer on request. We plan trailer type and dwell in alignment with your dock hours and security rules. We do not publish minimum duration or additional conditions online; we finalise those details on the quote or master service agreement.

How do you handle weights and axle limits?

We load and route to comply with legal axle limits in Canada and the USA. Instead of publishing a single “max payload,” we verify weight distribution by commodity, trailer type, and route, and we confirm loading plans with your shipping team to ensure axle-legal compliance.

What equipment do you run today?

We operate dry vans, reefers, multi-temp units, and 5-ton trucks including 5-ton reefers. We match equipment to freight based on volume, temperature needs, site constraints, and lane. For expedited, we select the fastest suitable unit at the time of booking.

Do you transport dangerous goods or hazmat?

No. We do not accept hazmat shipments at this time. If your freight includes regulated materials, please disclose that at the quote stage so we can advise promptly and avoid misloads or border issues.

How do you protect temperature integrity?

We set and verify the reefer temperature before loading, inspect door seals, and confirm airflow and packaging. We publish operating ranges and tolerances for frozen, chilled, and heated freight and we keep those throughout transit. We coordinate with your shipper on pre-cool or pre-heat requirements and loading patterns to protect product.

Can we access live temperature data during transit?

We do not provide live portals or app-based telemetry. We manage temperatures according to the setpoints and tolerances we publish and we communicate status through dispatch. If you require updates, we provide them by phone or email through our 24/7 line.

What documents are required for cross-border shipments?

Before pickup, we ask for your customs broker contact, commercial invoice, packing list, HS codes, and a signed Power of Attorney. For northbound or southbound moves, PARS or PAPS applies as appropriate, and ACE/ACI eManifest is filed when required. Having these ready keeps the crossing smooth and avoids storage or exams.

Which border crossings do you use?

We select the most efficient crossing based on lane, weather, traffic, and carrier guidance, and we coordinate with your customs broker to match clearance instructions. We do not publish a fixed list of crossings because conditions and routings change.

What industries do you specialise in?

We serve food and beverage, retail and packaging, pharmaceutical, seasonal and nursery, blueberries, and general produce. We plan reefer setpoints, loading practices, and linehaul timing around product integrity and shelf-life, and we adjust capacity for seasonal peaks in the BC Interior and BC–Ontario lanes.

Do you support local, last-mile, or yard shunt?

Yes. We support local and last-mile deliveries and provide tractor/shunt and yard moves with 24 hours’ notice, Monday to Friday 06:00–22:00. Weekend service is available by request. We confirm site requirements, safety rules, and dock windows during booking.

What proof of delivery do you provide?

We provide photo POD and paper POD. For residential or appointment deliveries, we record the consignee name, time, and any site notes to close the shipment cleanly. If you require extra documentation, tell us at booking so we capture it at delivery.

What cargo insurance do you carry?

We carry standard cargo insurance up to 250,000 per occurrence, with certificates available on request. We encourage shippers to disclose commodity value and any special handling needs at the quote stage so we can validate coverage fit and risk controls before pickup.

How do you handle schedule risk on expedited?

We treat expedited as priority best-effort. Severe weather, road closures, and force majeure can affect transit. We mitigate risk with pre-trip checks, route monitoring, and team drivers when justified by distance and duty-time rules. We keep you informed through 24/7 dispatch.

How do we arrange a dedicated solution?

We scope a six-month-minimum dedicated plan tailored to your volume, lanes, and site windows. We allow branding on equipment and uniforms, align capacity with your forecast, and publish KPIs of 99% on-time pickup, 99% on-time delivery, and a 0% claims ratio. We review performance and adjust capacity as demand changes.

What are your hours and timezone?

Dispatch is 24/7 in Pacific Time. You can call +1 778-896-9054 anytime for quotes, tracking, transit guidance, or after-hours support. We coordinate with your local time when scheduling appointments in other provinces or states.

Do you offer cross-dock and storage?

Yes. We provide cross-dock, transload, and short-term storage at Delta, BC; Calgary, AB; Winnipeg, MB; and Brampton, ON. Storage duration is as required by you, and we align handling with commodity and temperature needs. We do not publish a turnaround SLA; we schedule tasks to your timeline.

How do you onboard a new shipper?

We start with a clear scope: lanes, volumes, service type, pickup rules, accessorial needs, and documents. We confirm contact trees for shipper, consignee, and broker, then issue a written rate confirmation that shows any extra stops, detention policy, and special handling. Once booked, we dispatch, update proactively, and close with POD and invoice per your billing instructions.

How do you handle pricing and accessorials?

We provide transparent quotes. FTL detention includes two hours free at pickup and delivery, then waiting time charges apply. Extra FTL stops are billed and start from $100 when on-route, higher if off-route. LTL accessorials such as liftgate, residential delivery, and appointments are available on request and quoted. We confirm all charges in writing before the truck rolls.
